I’m Tom Stone-Wigg, a Kenyan-British renewable energy engineer with a First-Class MEng from Durham University. I’m passionate about the intersection of clean infrastructure, finance, and technology, and driven by the challenge of turning complex problems into impactful, real-world solutions.
Born in Kenya and shaped by international experiences, I bring a global perspective to the transition towards sustainable energy. My work so far spans distributed energy project development in Sub-Saharan Africa (GridX Africa), digital finance and product strategy in East Africa (PlatCorp), and independent work in financial modelling and investment analysis.
I’m particularly interested in how data, finance, and technology can accelerate the deployment of sustainable infrastructure — from commercial solar projects to large-scale offshore wind.
Outside of work, I spend my time playing chess, on the tennis court, fishing, painting, and exploring new places.

Financial Analysis & Modelling: Experienced in Excel and financial modelling, applying valuation techniques such as DCF and WACC to independent case studies in sustainable energy infrastructure and public equities.
Project Finance & Development: Contributed to the development of distributed renewable projects at GridX Africa, including tariff structuring, client engagement, risk assessments, and credit reviews.
Programming & Analytical Tools: Skilled in Python and MATLAB for data analysis, modelling, and automation. Currently exploring applications in financial modelling, risk prediction, and algorithmic trading.
Market Research & Commercial Analysis: Experienced in analysing consumer behaviour, assessing investment opportunities, and conducting market-entry research – including fintech strategy and trade finance analysis at PlatCorp.
Project Management & Leadership: Demonstrated ability to coordinate teams, manage logistics, and deliver client-focused outcomes. Leadership experience includes serving as House Captain and leading technical projects on solar integration and hydrogen optimisation.
Design & Creativity: Commissioned oil paintings and logo designs, showcasing precision, creativity, and attention to detail – qualities that inform my analytical work.
